Deadline for the submission of abstracts for invited talks, YSF talks and poster contributions has already expired.
There is no registration fee to attend the meeting but interested participants must register filling the corresponding form before July 8th, 2014.
Information on how to look for your own accommodation and a list of hotels offering discounts for XLIC participants can be found here. Because of the Volleyball Men’s World Championship will be held in Gdańsk in September 2014, early booking of the accommodation is highly recommended.
There are a limited number of rooms available for participants in student’s houses.
To book a room in the dormitories, you should be logged into the meeting website using the e-mail and password sent during the registration, and select “Dormitory booking” from menu to the right. Deadline for booking a dormitory is the end of July.
The participation of all XLIC MC members and speakers will be supported with Action budget. COST will also fully reimburse those young researchers selected for oral contributions in the Young Scientist Forum and depending on the budget we will try to cover also expenses from other young participants.
Participants entitled for reimbursement will receive an official notification and a message highligting some of the COST rules for reimbursement which should, in any case, be carefully examined before incurring any expense in:
- COST Vademecum, Part I, page 21-28, and /or
- the instructions on how to fill the Travel Reimbursement Request Form (TRR)
Accommodation and meal expenses will be reimbursed on the basis of flat rates. This means that participants should look for their own accommodation.
A reduction on maximum flate rates allowed for this particular meeting has been agreed by XLIC MC. The applicble rates are 80 EUR for accomodation and 15 EUR for meal expenses. For participants staying in student dormitories or other cheap accomodation, less money can be claimed if so desired by requesting the reimbursement for a smaller number of nights.
For travel expenses actual costs can be claimed on the basis of the receipts provided. (Any restriction applying to travel expenses will be notified to each participant entitled for reimbursement)
IMPORTANT: Participants selected for reimbursement are kindly asked to keep their expenses as low as possible to ensure a wide distribution of the Action budget.
The submission of claims shall be done after the meeting, but, for any non-regular expense or doubt you may have, please, better ask in advance (email@example.com). E.g. fligths departure/arrivals from/to places other than where the eligible participant is working/residing, extra meals, nights, taxi expenses, etc. shall not be reimbursed if permission is not requested before the meeting.

We would like to remind all the YSF speakers that the format of the talk is 15 minutes + 5 minutes of discussion.
If not selected as speaker, young researchers participating in the XLIC General Meeting will have an opportunity to present their results as a poster. The format of the poster is of the A1 size. During the meeting, two special poster sessions are foreseen in order to exchange views and stimulate discussions on research topics, and to support interdisciplinary communication between the researchers.
The 50th Symposium on Theoretical Chemistry, will take place in Vienna, Austria from September 14-18, 2014.
This year meeting will feature 15 invited speakers, who will present talks spanning from the development of methods in quantum chemistry, in dynamics, or the combination of both, to applications, also for excited states and light-induced processes. Additionally, 24 oral presentations from any field of Theoretical Chemistry will be selected from submissions and posters. Two poster sessions will allow you to interact with theorists from all fields of Theoretical Chemistry. On September 17th, the Hellmann Prize will be awarded to a young theoretical chemist.
The 50th anniversary will be additionally celebrated with two historical lectures. Wilfried Meyer (Kaiserslautern) will highlight the development of Theoretical Chemistry in the last 50 years within the German speaking countries and Klaus Ruedenberg (Iowa) will tell us about the history of Chemistry starting 3000 years ago.
Registration is now open and closes on the 30th of May.
Abstract deadline for oral contributions: 15th June.
Abstract deadline for posters: 15th July.
The number of participants is limited, so we cordially invite you to register as soon as possible. A contingent of affordable rooms have been reserved to facilitate housing in Vienna. September is conference high season and cheap accommodation runs out fast. It is therefore recommended to book early. If you fly with Austrian airlines, a discount of 15% is applied for STC participants.
The International Science at FELs 2014 conference, organised under the auspices of the “Collaboration of European FEL and SPS Facilities”, will take place at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen, Switzerland, from the 15th to the 17th of September 2014. The conference highlights recent science achievements and new developments in the expanding field of free electron lasers. It covers applications in condensed matter research, biology, chemistry, matter under extreme conditions, atomic and molecular systems as well as theory.
Dedicated introductory lectures for students are offered at the start of the conference. To encourage student participation, student grants have been provided by several sponsors (student support application deadline is on the 30th of June 2014).
The 2014 International Conference on Photochemistry will be held in Paris, France, on September 22-23, 2014. It aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of Photochemistry, and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted.

The 8th International Meeting on Photodynamics and Related Aspects that will take place in the beautiful city of Oaxaca, México, Oct 26-31, 2014.
This is a bianual conference aimed to promote a fertile exchange between theoretical and experimental scientists working in the following topics:
a) Photodynamic studies in gas phase and clusters: spectra, energy transfer, reactions, ultra-cold systems.
b) Photodynamic studies in condensed phases: spectra, energy transfer, reactions, solvation phenomena.
c) Photodynamic studies in surfaces, biological systems and nanosystems.

The 16th Workshop on Dynamical Phenomena at Surfaces (WDPS-16) will be held next Fall in Madrid (Spain), October 29-31, 2014.
This is the 16th edition of a series of bi-annual workshops. The last two editions took place in Schloss Ringberg (Germany) and Leiden (The Netherlands). WDPS-16 will cover hot topics in surface science related to dynamical processes, including laser-induced femtochemistry, non-adiabatic phenomena, diffusion of adsorbates, surface reactions and molecule–surface interactions as well as adsorbate vibrations and phonons. Following its tradition, the workshop is a meeting point for experimentalists and theoreticians in the field, and it will thus address those topics from a broad perspective.
